Wednesday's CLIG social and networking drinks marked what is likely the final legal industry gathering of the year for us, providing a fantastic opportunity to conclude the year on a high note. Co-hosted with LexisNexis, the event attracted around 55 professionals from the legal sector, each with unique objectives—whether it was reconnecting with old friends, addressing challenges, or exchanging valuable insights to advance our profession.
Held at Martha’s Cellar in Williamsons Tavern, the venue has consistently proved to be a great choice for CLIG and similar professional gatherings over the years. Attendees enjoyed a fine selection of food and beverages and the leftovers at the end of the evening—a few nachos, half a bottle of rosé, and a non-alcoholic Peroni—suggest that everyone had a great time and appreciated the fare. Highlights from our side included Fiona stepping in as MC during Zoltan’s speeches and reconnecting with many individuals we’ve previously assisted in their career development or hiring challenges. A memorable moment was being reminded how Tim and Tina inadvertently assumed bouncer duties at the Dry Dock bar during the BIALL conference in Leeds.
From our perspective, these events are not just enjoyable; they also serve as vital platforms to stay informed about trends, challenges, and key players in the legal information profession. For information and knowledge management professionals, CLIG membership, and participation in these events offer invaluable opportunities to learn more about our field, engage with interesting peers, and discover innovative practices from various information and KM teams.
