Head of Data Strategy and Governance - Law - London
One of the worlds leading law firms has a requirement for a highly experienced information professional to join their team in London and assume the role of Head of Data Strategy and Governance. This is a firm-wide role where the principal objective is to assume responsibility for the quality, buy-in and processes behind data-driven decision making. It is primarily a strategic role that interfaces with senior management and partner level stakeholders and will have considerable influence around the technology road-map of the firm.
In this role, the primary objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identification of master data sources and content sets from the firms data assets, and document structure
- Create and embed a governance framework that is flexible, scalable and reactive
- Lead activities to define and manage the firm’s core vocabularies and taxonomies
- Define and support the information asset re-use strategy
- Oversee data management systems and define the records management function
- Ensure that information and support on data management is available and that key stakeholders can find, explore and store as appropriate
- Drive change though firm-wide data lifecycle initiatives and ensure that information literacy is embedded as a core skill
Suitable candidates for this Head of Data Strategy and Governance requirement will need the following:
- Considerable experience in data management functions, at a senior level
- Functional experience in metadata management and data quality rules
- Demonstrable experience of leading and managing teams
- The ability to influence and secure buy-in from senior stakeholders
- Good understanding of other data related capabilities
- Exposure to vendor relationship management, budgeting and cost control
- A degree in information science or similar/related qualification
