Information Assistant - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to join a prestigious law firm in London as an Information Assistant. This role is an initial 12-month fixed term contract, with the potential for a permanent position for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a broad range of library-related tasks, including checking in post, shelving materials, maintaining collections, and general housekeeping.
  • Collaborate with Knowledge & Information Officers (KIOs) to maintain the firm's network of practice-based libraries.
  • Process orders for hard copy items such as textbooks and journals, and handle invoice processing in alignment with internal procedures.
  • Assist in providing support for ongoing and future projects within the Research & Information, Information Resources, and Knowledge Management Systems teams.
  • Provide cover for the central enquiries desk, answering legal, business, and commercial enquiries (training provided).
  • Update and create impactful intranet content in collaboration with team stakeholders.
  • Manage updates on the library management system (LMS) and facilitate the linking of online resources within the library catalogue.
  • Oversee loose-leaf management and journal distribution, including the management of missing updates from suppliers.
  • Provide database support and assist with password management for new joiners and lawyers experiencing issues.
  • Offer general administrative support across all team functions.

Qualifications Required:

  • Graduate with an Information, Librarianship, or Knowledge-related qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to managing a diverse range of tasks.
  • Ability to work flexibly and enthusiastically in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with colleagues.
