Information Compliance Officer

Our client, an academic institution in London, is seeking an Information Compliance Officer to join their dynamic team for a temporary contract expected to last six months. This is an excellent opportunity for professional development in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Information Compliance team in coordinating responses to statutory information requests under the DPA, GDPR, and FOIA.
  • Prioritise and manage a diverse caseload, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
  • Compose well-researched and compliant responses, consulting with senior managers and colleagues as necessary.
  • Document all actions and advice related to information requests and enquiries.
  • Provide advisory support to university staff on information compliance issues.
  • Log and assess reported data breaches, escalating serious cases appropriately.
  • Maintain departmental contacts on compliance issues and support related meetings.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supporting the Senior Information Compliance Officer and Information Compliance Manager.
  • Help maintain web content related to compliance, including the university's Freedom of Information Publication Scheme and Disclosure Log.

Qualifications Required

  • Knowledge of information access and privacy legislation, including FOIA, GDPR, and the Data Protection Act.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with a high standard of English.
  • Excellent desktop IT skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Confidentiality and tactfulness in handling sensitive information.
  • Flexible approach to tasks and responsibilities, with a commitment to teamwork.
