Knowledge and Information Officer - Financial Markets - Law
An opportunity has arisen within one of the world’s leading law firms for a Knowledge and Information Officer. This role is an outstanding opportunity to join an extremely large, welcoming and forward thinking team and align to a dedicated practice area covering Financial Markets. In this role the successful candidate will join a large and dedicated team and will work closely with Knowledge Lawyers and the wider internal information services community to provide a mix of research and knowledge services. In addition to the provision of services such as providing current awareness, helping to develop information resources and upskilling lawyers, in the longer-term responsibilities will include opportunity to both participate and lead on projects.
The primary objectives and responsibilities of the Knowledge and Information Officer include, but are not limited to:
- Being a first point of contact for practice related stakeholders
- Assume the role of a subject matter expert for practice-aligned knowledge and information resources
- Respond to practice specific and broader research requests and enquiries as a part of rota
- Develop a strong understanding of the financial markets practice area and provide a current awareness service
- Assist the firm in developing a self-service culture via the training of lawyers on resources
- Working with key stakeholders and practice groups to identify and action KM and information needs
- To promote and drive engagement with information services within the wider firm
- Assist and lead on projects
To be suitable for this Knowledge and Information Officer requirement, candidates will require the following:
- Some previous experience in a similar Information Services or KM role, ideally in a related or adjacent environment
- Specific practice area expertise is not a pre-requisite, but the ability to learn and develop an expertise will be essential
- A Library or Information related qualification would be extremely advantageous, but is not essential
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship building skills
- The ability to learn new tasks and systems quickly
- An ability to organise and prioritise, particularly when faced with conflicting priorities
- An intellectually curious mindset and the ability to add value by identifying and acting on opportunities to deliver a better service
