Knowledge and Information Officer - Law - London
An extremely prestigious global law firm has a new requirement for a Knowledge and Information Officer to join their team in London. This role is represents an opportunity to join a large team of peers, each of whom have an alignment to a practice area, but also operate on a centralised enquiry desk on a rotational basis. This role is aligned to the firms Finance practice area, but previous practice specific experience is not a pre-requisite as it is expected that the successful applicant will be able to learn and grow in the role. The position also offers an opportunity for an experienced information professional to further refine their skills by participating in a broad range of information and KM orientated tasks, and by working closely with senior stakeholders.
The primary responsibilities and objectives of this Knowledge and Information Officer include, but are not limited to:
- Management and development of the knowledge management database
- Maintenance and development of practice intranet sites
- The provision of a practice-specific current awareness service
- Deliver comprehensive research services to fee earners and PSL that covers a range of business and legal topics
- Evaluation and management information resources and databases
- The provision of training on knowledge tools and resources
- Lead knowledge projects to benefit the practice
To be a suitable candidate for this Knowledge and Information Officer, a mix of the following is required:
- Strong knowledge management and research skills, ideally acquired in a similar environment
- A demonstrable interest in both knowledge and information management
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively across stakeholder groups and business functions
- Proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A library or information qualification such as MLIS would be extremely desirable
