Research Analyst - Law - London

A global law firm with a UK office in London has a new requirement for a Research Analyst to join their team. The role is a new requirement to service increased research demand from UK, Europe and Asia based fee-earners and covers a mix of both legal and business research enquiries. The UK based team is small and the person that secures this role will benefit from considerable support and the opportunity to learn from the UK Research Manager. In addition to the core research requirements, the role will also contribute to the wider administrative tasks within the information function, such as training and onboarding new joiners across the UK and other offices and administering aspects of the physical library. This is a role that would suit someone in a similar role, but equally it could suit someone looking for their second role and looking for some additional personal responsibility, plus the opportunity to continue their development as an information or research professional. This role also offers hybrid working.

In this role, the primary tasks and objectives include, but are not limited to:

  • The provision of an enquiry service covering both legal and business research requests
  • Utilising research resources that include, but are not limited to WestLaw, Lexis, Bloomberg and MergerMarket
  • Working with lawyers to identify their research needs and ensuring that the research service is resourced appropriately by assessing, testing and acquiring new resources
  • Supporting with the onboarding of new fee-earners by providing training on research techniques and resources
  • Contributing to the firms wider Knowledge and Information strategy by supporting on projects, such as the development of their intranet provision
  • Assisting with library administration tasks such the management of collections, managing vendor relationships and assisting with procurement

To be a suitable candidate for this Research Analyst role, the following experience and skills are required:

  • Previous experience in a similar research orientated information role and ideally, with at least a couple of years experience
  • A strong grasp of common resources for both business and legal research
  • Experience providing training on research resources 
  • A keen interest in developing or further refining research skills
  • Refined interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Ideally, you will hold a library qualification, but candidates that are qualified by related experience will also be considered
