Research Librarian – London – Law
An opportunity for an experienced Research Librarian / Information professional has become available at a global law firm that is headquartered in London. This role is predominantly research-driven encompassing business/legal research and the delivery of a current awareness service. It also offers the opportunity to work in a wider library capacity with additional responsibilities in around the management of the firms collections, the provision of training and driving engagement with the library function throughout the firm. The successful applicant would be joining a large, experienced and extremely supportive team.

The primary responsibilities in this Research Librarian requirement include, but are not limited to:

  • The provision of an enquiry driven legal and business research service
  • Utilizing a vast array of online and hard-copy resources
  • Undertaking a mix of quick turnaround and complex research and analysis tasks, particularly in support of the firm’s business research requests
  • The provision of a current awareness service, newsletters and alerts
  • Supporting in the firm’s horizon scanning activities
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and providing training on research resources
  • Supporting on collection development and assisting in managing the relationships with vendors and information providers
  • Supporting on projects that underpin the continuous improvement objectives of the library function

To be a suitable candidate for this Research Librarian requirement. The following are required:

  • Previous experience in a similar Information Services or Research Librarian role
  • Ideally, experience as an information professional gained within law or professional services
  • A qualification as either a Librarian or Information Professional
  • Experience across an array of both legal and business research resources
  • Exposure or previous experience with related library or information management platforms such as SharePoint
  • An ability to operate as an SME for information resources and an ability to train others
  • Highly developed relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills
  • An ability to manage conflicting priorities and to work on small individual projects
