Fabulous opportunity! A leading global advisory and investment firm require a Research Associate to support all levels of bankers and senior advisers by assisting with information gathering from key in-house systems & databases as well as using reliable public sources to filter, package and deliver concise information. The researcher will work closely with sector teams and provide accurate and time sensitive information to add value to team specific requests. This position requires active monitoring of the research service out of hours. The role involves supporting both local and international teams to deliver a current and concise information service, demonstrate knowledge sharing with other team members and providing Research training for new joiners.  The role will also include administration tasks to ensure the service is well managed. Administration tasks include assisting in the operation and maintenance of the firm’s contract management database and usage monitoring software. The hours of this role are 9-5 or 10- 6

Main responsibilities include:

  • Developing a good general awareness of the Corporate Finance environment with the ability to provide focused research related advice on M&A/Debt/ECM industry related requests
  • Developing a good working knowledge of key research databases and current awareness of product capabilities
  • Utilise a range of DSS database knowledge for information requests, which can be communicated in a clear and articulate fashion to bankers providing a value added approach
  • Supporting and assisting team projects in resource testing, acquisition, and software integration
  • Producing articles and guides for firm and team knowledgebases and wikis
  • Assisting with team administration including library management, diary management, and organising meetings with vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Creating and delivering presentations on information resources to new joining interns and graduates
  • Assist in the contract management process by assisting with the maintenance of a contract management database
  • Supplying the provisioning team with user, contract, and service information on request in order to assist with the provisioning process for EMEA offices
  • Assisting in the operation and administration of the firm’s usage monitoring software, including addressing queries and outputting data
  • Use internal databases to provide the team with supporting data regarding resource usage, resource costs, and inventory
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders regarding contract management, inventory, cost management, resource allocations in order to facilitate provisioning, inventory updates, and cost allocation processes
  • The incumbent must display a strong eye for detail, and be able to think outside the box, provide market intelligence to support business cases
  • Will require close interaction with advisory investment banking staff, tasks will include understanding and interpreting what the client seeks in various industries across EMEA and Asia

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Over two years’ experience in information services in a Financial Services setting
  • Finance/business/data science background or knowledge of financial products an asset
  • Ability to be self-directed and demonstrate initiative to solve problems, also able to work in a fast paced environment and to manage several parallel tasks
  • Possess good presentation, communication, and organisational skills, especially when presenting research to clients
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications & use of Internet search engines
  • Familiarity with UK legal and regulatory environment an asset
  • An enthusiastic and energetic approach to work ethic
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels in the business
  • Work proactively and willing to take the initiative
  • Have the ability to work under pressure, multitask and be self-accountable
  • Any understanding and command of financial market databases and application tools, both quantitative and qualitative would be an asset
