Researcher / Librarian - Singapore - Global Law Firm
One of the worlds largest and most successful law firms has a new requirement for Researcher with information management skills to be based out of their Singapore office. This is a new role in the firm and supports six locations in the Asia region
This role is primarily responsible for the provision of research and information services support to fee-earners, paralegals and staff in the firm. Research services in this role feed in to attorneys and support a mix of ongoing client work and business development / pitching activities. It is anticipated that this will support a mix of practice areas, but major in topics such as Capital Markets and M&A. Although this is a research-centric role, the position will also draw on stakeholder engagement, training and wider information management skills.
The primary responsibilities in this Researcher / Librarian role include, but are not limited to:
- Undertaking research at the request of attorneys with a primary focus on Capital Markets and M&A
- Providing a research service that feeds into ongoing client work, business development and pitching
- Analysing research and distilling results into actionable outputs such as slide decks or presentations
- Compile and organise information obtained in research projects into coherent and focused collections, accompanied by explanatory notes.
- Monitoring legal, business and news sources for current developments related to the firms practice areas and producing current awareness bulletins
- Assisting with library operational and management functions
- Promoting awareness of the research function and conducting end-user training to upskill users on internal and external research resources
- Working in partnership with Litigation Services, Knowledge Management and Strategic Research.
To be a suitable candidate for this role, you will need a strong mix of the following:
- Well developed research and analysis skills particularly around Capital Markets, M&A or Financial Services related research requests
- Experience gained as a researcher / information professional in a legal, financial services or other professional services environment
- A strong knowledge of the relevant research resources resources such as MergerMarket or Capital IQ
- Knowledge of legal research resources such as Lexis Nexis would be extremely useful, but is not essential
- An ability to organise, catalogue and manage research materials and outputs for future use
- Strong communication, engagement and stakeholder management skills utilising both Mandarin and English languages
- Some experience training users on research resources
- Relevant academic qualifications such as Library Science, Economics or Law subjects
