Researcher - Law - London
An Information professional with highly developed research skills is required by a leading US law firm that has a base in Central London. In the UK, this is role will form part of a small and dedicated research function, but will interact with a globally dispersed team of peers. This role supports both legal and business research requests, but the primary responsibilities are focused on providing a research and analysis service that feeds into ongoing client work, BD and marketing initiatives. The role will also draw on the wider information skills of the successful applicant to support on the continued development of the capabilities of the Research and Information Services function.
In this Researcher role, the primary responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to requesters and information needs of stakeholders across the firm, servicing both legal and business research requirements
- Partner with fee earners, business development and marketing to identify and leverage new opportunities via the provision of a research and analysis service
- Collect and distil information and data from multiple sources and produce outputs such as reports, slide decks or presentations
- Collaborate with practice groups to undertake horizon scanning and to produce a tailored current awareness service
- Supporting practice groups with Knowledge Management needs including the design and provision of training, updating the intranet and the creation of data rooms
- Engage with the wider firm to identify information services needs, to obtain feedback and support a culture of continuous improvement
- Undertaking administrative tasks that underpin the research and information services function
To be a suitable candidate for this role, applicants will require the following experience and skills:
- Experience in a similar Research or Information Services orientated role in a legal or professional services setting
- Strong research skills across both legal and business topics. Ideally, including the ability to add-value or insight
- Well versed in business and legal electronic resources such as Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, Practical Law, Bloomberg and PI
- A thirst for exploring additional methods, sources and technologies to meet the information needs of stakeholders
- Experience assisting in or creating current awareness bulletins
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage challenging stakeholder engagements such conflicting stakeholder priorities
- A Library or Information Science qualification would be extremely desirable, but is not a pre-requisite
