Researcher - Law - Multiple UK Locations
A national law firm with considerable industry recognition in recent years has a requirement for a Researcher to join their team. This role serves lawyers with support in ongoing client work and pitching, but also serves to underpin some of the firms more strategic initiatives including marketing, competitor intelligence and business development. Specific research tasks are likely to focus on company or sector profiles, market research and monitoring competitor activity and capabilities. The firm has large team of knowledge, information and research professionals that are distributed across their UK sites which include Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow and Belfast.
In this Researcher role, the principal objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive business research to support lawyers and colleagues across the organization in understanding clients, sectors, and markets.
- Collaborate with fellow Researchers to produce company profiles, sector and market research, and competitive intelligence reports.
- Assist the Research Manager with business development activities and strategic projects.
- Develop regular business research insights and analysis to support decision-making and identify commercial opportunities.
- Provide research support to the Research Manager for current awareness and horizon scanning when needed.
Information Monitoring and Dissemination
- Utilize technology to monitor economic, business, and industry news, identifying developments and trends impacting the legal market, clients, and sectors of interest.
- Support and advise on knowledge-sharing practices throughout the firm.
Collaboration and Support
- Liaise with and support Marketing & Business Development colleagues in their research and information needs.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Business, Research, Information Management, or a related field
- Proven expertise in B2B, secondary, and desktop research within a professional services context
- Desirable: Knowledge and application of business and competitive intelligence analysis frameworks
Research and Information Management Skills
- Extensive experience in conducting online research using diverse business databases and news sources
- Ability to comprehend the firms sector-specific work and internal client needs
- Skill in identifying relevant knowledge, drafting summaries, and effectively disseminating content
- Capacity to establish credibility as a trusted advisor on business research matters
